2026-27 Faculty/Staff Parking permit purchases begin Monday, July 20.
The new permit year begins August 1, 2026.
Accessible permit purchases will also begin on July 20 for employees purchasing a virtual permit online (pre-qualification required by uploading required ADA documentation for reveiew).
In-person permit sales at the Parking and Transportation office will begin on July 27.

Parking Area Assignments
Faculty and staff are assigned to designated parking areas based on departmental recommendations and parking availability. Some high-demand areas may fill during annual renewals.
- Faculty and staff are assigned to numbered parking areas such as Staff 7, Staff 9, Staff 23, etc.
- If an assignment includes multiple lots, the permit is valid in any lot within that designated area.
- Departments, colleges, and programs coordinate parking recommendations during annual renewals.
- New assignments are made throughout the year as space becomes available.
- High-demand areas such as S7, S9, and S30 may reach capacity after annual renewals and not available to mid-year hires.
- Employees are encouraged to Park Once and use the free T transit system to reach destinations across campus.

- Tier 4: $150,000 and over will pay $55.13 per month x 12 = $661.56 annually

Park & Ride: UT’s Most Affordable Option
For employees seeking a low-cost alternative, the Park & Ride permit is available for just $99 per year.
- Location: Knoxville Civic Coliseum Garage B
- Hours: Weekdays, 7 a.m.–6 p.m.
- Service: T buses run every 10-12 minutes to Gate 21 at Neyland Stadium
- Eligibility: Faculty, staff, commuter students, and visitors
- After 5 p.m.: Permit holders may park in unreserved staff and commuter spaces on campus
- Permit holders who need after-hours access should move their vehicle to campus or park in the Knoxville Civic Coliseum overflow surface lot located on Honor Our Troops Drive, which remains open until 9 p.m. Return rides to the Knoxville Civic Coliseum after 6 p.m. may be requested through T: Link service on the Tennessee app, via any campus Blue Phone, or by calling Link directly at (865) 974-4080.
KAT Bus Partnership
- UT continues its successful partnership with Knoxville Area Transit, providing free rides to all UT students, faculty and staff.
- Employees may use their VolCard to access KAT buses.
- With 20 fixed routes and three trolley lines, KAT reaches within a half-mile radius of more than 80 percent of Knoxville’s population and transports more than 3 million passengers annually.

Staff Permit Purchase Instructions
Before continuing to purchase a permit, you will need the following information:
- NetID and password
- Credit card or access to MyUTK
- License plate number
- License plate registration expiration date
- Make, model, year, and color of the vehicle(s) you will be driving to campus
Faculty/Staff Parking Permit Sales open for renewals in mid-July. New staff permit sales are limited in each zone.
Please make sure your vehicle information is up-to-date. You may have multiple vehicles on your account.
Receipt and Temporary Permit – At the end of the transaction print the 14-day temporary permit to park in your designated area.
Hang tags are mailed the next business day from the out-of-state vendor. Permits are not available to pick up in the office.
