Finals parking and Zach Bryan Concert

We have received a lot of student and faculty emails regarding working late or finals at the same time as guests arrive for the Zach Bryan concert on Thu, May 9th and Fri, May 10th. First, you can leave your car where you are assigned. For students taking exams during the late afternoon and evening, we want to encourage you to park on the north end of campus.

Our team wants to recommend parking options that will ultimately enable you to leave campus quickly, safely, and sanely. We also want to help you AVOID the very heavy congestion around the Food City Center area.

Say you park in S30 at the Communications Building or in the G10 garage. We are expecting over 22,000 guests and you may end up waiting 30-45 minutes to get out of those parking areas. We are estimating that the crowds will start arriving around 4 p.m. and won’t let up until after 8:30 p.m.

First, commuter students we recommend that you park on the north end of campus in commuter areas:

  • White Ave garage
  • 11th St garage
  • G17 Terrace Ave garage
  • C18 at the corner of James Agee and Clinch (lots of empty spaces due to the law school finishing early)

Second, the following staff areas can accommodate students after 4:30 p.m.:

  • Staff 9 – across from Neyland Stadium
  • Commuter/Staff 7 – Second Creek off Cumberland (next to Min Kao)
  • White Ave garage

Special note for the 11th St garage – We are running a shuttle from the garage to Gate 21 starting at 2 p.m. and ending about one hour after the concert ends. You can park in the 11th St garage, ride the shuttle to Gate 21, a quick walk to Zeanah for your final. After you walk back to Gate 21, take the shuttle and leave campus quickly avoiding traffic.

Good luck with finals for both students and faculty!
