Purple Heart Parking

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville would like to honor our faculty, staff, and student veterans who have been awarded a Purple Heart. The Purple Heart parking permit allows parking in any unreserved space on campus.

Visitors with a Purple Heart designation may contact the Veterans Success Center at 865-974-5420 for a FREE daily Purple Heart parking pass.

Purple Heart Permit Purchase Instructions

Process

  1. Bring DD214 to Veterans Success Center and request approval for Purple Heart Parking Permit
  2. Veterans Success Center will notify Parking Services that the person is authorized to purchase
  3. Come to Parking & Transportation Services at 2121 Stephenson Dr (off Neyland Dr and Joan Cronan Way) to complete the transaction
  4. Complete Vehicle Registration Form
  5. Purchase the permit at the applicable rate – Commuter, Non-Commuter, Faculty/Staff. (NOTE: There is NO additional cost for the Purple Heart Permit)

Purple Heart Parking Permit sales are open year-round. 

New to campus? You may purchase your parking permit on the first business day following the day you register for classes or the day you begin work.

Student Permits and Rates for Academic Year
(Fall 2023 and Spring 2024)

  • Non-Commuter Permit (PHN): $310
  • Commuter (PHC): $198

2023-23 NEW Faculty/Staff Rates for Year

Rates are based on base salary level – click on the above link to view your monthly rate

One Day Permit – Temporary parking for student areas may be purchased at rate of $5.00 per day when space is available

Requirements and Limitations

All vehicles require that you need to:

  • Purchase a Parking Permit – Valid parking permits are required to park on the UT Knoxville campus – 24/7/365 (including nights, weekends, breaks, holidays, and during the summer (parking during the summer requires a summer permit)
  • Temporary or Replacement Parking Permit – If you have newly acquired a vehicle, left it in another vehicle, or misplaced your hangtag, we can provide a temporary permit or issue a replacement for a fee at either:
    • Circle Park Information Booth – near Torchbearer (temporary only)
    • Parking & Transportation Services – 2121 Stephenson Dr (off Neyland and Joan Cronan Way, just across the railroad tracks)
    • Office Hours for both locations are Mon- Fri 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Purple Heart permits must also adhere to timed parking spaces – 15 minute loading zone, 45 minute, 1 hour, etc.
