Faculty and Staff
2024-25 Faculty/Staff Parking Permit Renewals start on Monday, July 15th.
New permit year starts Aug 1, 2024.
Accessible permit renewals will be available through the online renewal system if your accessible placard or plate is current past Aug 1.
Those with accessible plates or placards expiring on or before Aug. 1 will need to submit their new documentation before they will be authorized to renew.
New Park & Ride Permits
- Available to faculty and staff at the discounted rate of $99 annually.
- Parking located at Garage B at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum and available weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
- Park & Ride permits will be serviced by dedicated bus service from UT’s T campus transport system, which will run every 10 minutes to bring permit holders to the campus transfer point at Gate 21 of Neyland Stadium.
- Faculty and staff choosing to utilize the park-and-ride option will be permitted to park on campus in any unreserved staff or commuter space on weekdays after 5 p.m. and on days when full academic operations are not underway (summer sessions and breaks).

Parking Area Assignments
- Faculty and Staff are assigned to numbered parking areas, such as Staff 7, Staff 9, Staff 23, etc. If the parking area has multiple lot locations, the hangtag is valid in any of those lots.
- Recommendations for faculty and staff parking area assignments are coordinated with departments, colleges, or programs during the summer for July renewals.
- New Faculty/Staff parking assignments during the year are made as space is available. High-demand areas, such as S9, S7, and S30 may be full after renewals are complete.
- Faculty and Staff are encouraged to Park Once and Ride the T Bus to their destination. Visit parking.utk.edu/transit for information on free T Bus routes and hours of operation.

- Tier 1: $29,999 and under annual compensation will pay $21.00 per month X 12 = $252.00
- Tier 2: $30,000 to $59,999 will pay $31.50 per month x 12 = $378.00
- Tier 3: $60,000 to $149,999 will pay $36.75 per month x 12 = $441.00
- Tier 4: $150,000 and over annual compensation will pay $52.50 per month x 12 = $630.00

KAT Bus Partnership
- Beginning Aug. 12, staff and faculty will receive free fares when traveling to and from campus on KAT buses, providing a convenient and sustainable commuting solution.
- Employees will use their VolCard to access KAT buses.
- With 23 fixed routes and three trolley lines, KAT reaches within a half-mile radius of more than 80 percent of Knoxville’s population and transports more than 3 million passengers annually.
2024 Parking Transformation Impacts on Staff Parking
- Increase of over 500 new staff spaces
- No rate changes for faculty and staff until fall 2025, with an expectation for increases every two years after that.
- Addition of more than 1,000 mobile-pay, hourly parking spaces throughout campus will provide flexibility to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Parking technology improvements to provide real-time space-availability data, mobile-pay technology, and an updated website.
- Lower permit-to-space ratios.
Staff Permit Purchase Instructions
Before continuing to purchase a permit, you will need the following information:
- NetID and password
- Credit card or access to MyUTK
- License plate number
- License plate registration expiration date
- Make, model, year, and color of the vehicle(s) you will be driving to campus
Faculty/Staff Parking Permit Sales open for renewals in mid-July. New staff permit sales are limited in each zone.
Please make sure your vehicle information is up-to-date. You may have multiple vehicles on your account.
Receipt and Temporary Permit – At the end of the transaction print the 14-day temporary permit to park in your designated area.
Hang tags are mailed the next business day from the out-of-state vendor. Permits are not available to pick up in the office.
