December 8–19
Alumni Amphitheater – Steam Leak Sidewalk Closure
Sidewalks between the Amphitheater and the tower will be closed December 8–12 to repair a steam leak. Middle Drive will remain open, with a flagger assisting trucks entering and exiting the work area.
December 8 – August 15, 2026
Neyland Stadium South – Long-Term Sidewalk and Parking Lane Closure (Gate 10–13)
Sidewalks and the parking lane on the stadium side of Phillip Fulmer Way will be closed beginning December 8, 2025 through August 15, 2026. Both travel lanes will remain open.
December 16 (9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)
Nielsen Physics – Middle Drive Total Closure (RTU Platform Steel Erection)
Middle Drive will be fully closed from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to allow personnel to park prior to crane operations. Once the closure begins, staff who leave will need to repark in G13 Garage on 11th Street or G10 Garage on Melan/Malan Drive.
December 16 (4:00 p.m.) – December 29 (4:00 p.m.)
Nielsen Physics – Middle Drive Partial Closure
Following the total closure, Middle Drive will operate under a partial closure with cones, snow fencing, and construction signage delineating the crane swing radius and work zone while allowing limited access.
December 17 (6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.)
Neyland Stadium South – Chiller Changeout (Gate 12–15)
Phillip Fulmer Way will be fully closed between Gates 12 and 15 to support crane operations for chiller replacement. Sidewalks in the work zone will also be closed.
December 18–24
Johnny Majors Drive – South-Side Concrete Panel Repair
Concrete removal will occur December 18–19, with pour-back and finishing December 22–23. December 24 is reserved if needed. The south sidewalk and adjacent parking spaces will be closed. The roadway will remain open with either one-way outbound or alternating two-way traffic depending on staging.
December 22 (7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)
Dougherty Engineering – Estabrook Drive Closure (Elevator Equipment Replacement)
Estabrook Drive will be fully closed to support elevator equipment replacement. Barricades will be staged at the Lower Drive and Middle Drive intersection to prevent through traffic.
December 26 (afternoon mobilization)
Torchbearer Hall – Tower Crane Dismantling Mobilization
A smaller crawler crane will mobilize to the Torchbearer Hall site in preparation for dismantling operations. Increased truck activity may occur near Circle Park.
December 29–30 (with Dec 31 contingency)
Torchbearer Hall – Tower Crane Dismantling
Tower crane dismantling will occur December 29 and December 30. If work cannot be completed by 6:00 p.m. on December 30 due to the evening basketball game, remaining work will be completed December 31. Short, intermittent traffic delays may occur at Circle Park.
January 7–8, 2026
Nielsen Physics Area – Additional HVAC Closures
On January 7, Middle Drive will be fully closed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the RTU lift. On January 8, Circle Drive will be fully closed from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to support rooftop exhaust fan demolition.
