University of Tennessee Parking and Transportation Services recently received recognition as an Accredited Parking Organization (APO) by the International Parking and Mobility Institute (IPMI), becoming one of only 20 universities and four Southeastern Conference schools to hold that status. The APO designation, which runs through Dec. 31, 2027, marks the first time Tennessee has received IPMI accreditation.

IPMI is the world’s largest association of parking, transportation, and mobility professionals, and it works to advance the parking and mobility industry through professional development, research and data collection, advocacy, and outreach. IPMI’s Accredited Parking Organization program recognizes organizations that have achieved a documented and comprehensive standard of excellence, awarding the APO designation based on compliance with best practices in management and operations. To be approved, organizations must meet required benchmarks in customer service, professional development, sustainability, transportation demand management, and safety and security.

“This APO designation not only raises UT Parking and Transportation’s credibility within the industry, but it underscores our commitment to improving the campus experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors through our mission of providing a comprehensive customer-focused parking, transit, and fleet system that effectively supports campus academic, professional, extracurricular, athletic, and special event programs,” said Associate Vice Chancellor for Campus Operations and Real Estate Brian Browning.

The APO accreditation applies to commercial, institutional, municipal, medical, university, airport, private, and other industry operations. Organizations re-certify every three years to maintain the industry’s most sought-after recognition and accreditation.

UT Parking and Transportation Services was recently recognized for its accomplishment at the 2024 IPMI Parking & Mobility Conference & Expo in Columbus, Ohio.
